This page memorializes the situations leading to the publication and eventual withdrawal of the safehouse.yoga website.
The sole purpose of this page is to provide factual information which may allow yoga students to make an informed decision as to whether to attend Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh or any other yoga school or retreat involving Anand Mehrotra.
This page solely contains factual statements. Each statement can be backed up by necessary evidence. In any legal proceedings, the discovery process will bring out such evidence to appropriately support each statement made. No statements herein constitute legal defamation, and there is certainly no intention to defame any persons or institutions.
The creators of the original safehouse.yoga website, and the women whose statements were posted on it, have no involvement in this page. That includes all named defendants in legal proceedings commenced or threatened by Anand Mehrotra.
Going back to at least the early 2010s, every handful of years a series of allegations arise by female students of Sattva Yoga Academy and specifically Anand Mehrotra.
Such allegations ordinarily consist of sexual relationships and/or interactions which many would consider inappropriate abuse of the student/teacher power dynamic.
The number of allegations are significant. Many overlap in time, and include periods subsequent to Anand Mehrotra’s marriage. A number of allegations involve non-consent, both non-consensual sexual interactions within an ongoing relationship, or one-off non-consensual interactions.
Until the most recent wave of allegations, prior waves were successfully suppressed by Anand Mehrotra and Sattva Yoga Academy. This involved recurring tactics of legal threats and commencement of proceedings, financial payoffs, personal attacks on the credibility of the women coming forward, and extensive internet whitewashing through removal of negative reviews on third party websites. A collection of such negative reviews removed from Trustpilot has been made public.
The most recent waves of allegations in 2026 resulted in the safehouse.yoga website.
That website contained the written statements of four women alleging inappropriate and, in some cases, potentially criminal conduct by Anand Mehrotra. Those statements were prepared in a formal legal affidavit form as would be submitted to court proceedings and sworn before qualified legal practitioners.
Before safehouse.yoga was withdrawn, a significant number of other women were at various stages of considering whether to come forward with similar stories.

Anand Mehrotra and Sattva Yoga Academy executed their usual tactics to suppress this most recent wave of allegations. Proceedings were commenced in the Delhi courts for the taking down of safehouse.yoga, and defamation claims threatened against two of the women and two of their supporters who assisted in their coming forward. Threats have also been made to former staff who were thought to be speaking to those supporters.
A website was published, assumed to be by Anand Mehrotra, which seeks to discredit the women involved and the motivations of their supporters. That website utilised all the known deflection and denial tactics commonly utilised by ‘high control groups’ (ie those with cult-like dynamics).
The safehouse.yoga website was taken down as a result of such threats and the personal impact they were having on the individuals involved. Those individuals however remain certain of the baselessness of those counter-allegations being made by Anand Mehrotra.
A number of associated organizations provided the wider ecosystem in which Sattva Yoga Academy could source a flow of international yoga students. This includes periods where the student community significantly diminished following a wave of allegations and extensive efforts were made to rebuild student numbers.
Those organizations include, in particular, Recovery 2.0 and Tommy Rosen (who continued taking retreats of international students in the addiction recovery communities to Sattva Yoga Academy for many years), and Parmarth Niketan Ashram and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati (who likewise continued promoting Sattva Yoga Academy for many years through the annual International Yoga Festival held at Parmarth Niketan).
Prior waves of allegations were general knowledge at the time prior to successful suppression, so it is questionable that these associated organizations were not aware (albeit perhaps adopting wilful or subconscious denial) over the many years they provided that ecosystem and introduced students to Sattva Yoga Academy.
